SELF-MADE
Motion Graphics for Brett Crawford
This project brought Brett Crawford’s painting “Self-Made” to life through a 30-second 2D animation created for his solo exhibition with Phillips Auction, Hong Kong. The animated piece was later featured on a massive 5m x 5m LED screen in Downtown Hong Kong, directly in view of the Central-Mid-Levels escalators, one of the city’s busiest pedestrian routes.
Creative Approach
The goal was to translate static art into living motion while staying faithful to Crawford’s unique style. The animation focused on movement, rhythm, and character energy, giving life to the painted figures while preserving the painterly feel of the original work.
- Character-driven animation making painted figures move, interact, and “dance.”
- Loopable sequences designed for public display, ensuring continuous flow on the large LED screen.
- Stylized motion design blending 2D animation with the original hand-painted textures.
- Museum-quality presentation, balancing artistic respect with digital creativity.
