ACTIVITY BOOK
COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY PROJECT
Project Overview
The Activity Book is an independent, community-driven project curated by Eric Michael, created to bring together local artists and provide children with an imaginative, creative outlet. Inspired by Eric’s personal experience with his daughter at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the project aims to spark creativity, joy, and healing through a high-quality printed activity book filled with coloring pages, puzzles, and interactive content.

Books have already been donated to schools and community programs, including Escalona Elementary (La Mirada) and Ceasar Chávez Elementary (Long Beach), with future donations planned for Addams Elementary and the Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach.

I collaborated on the 2D animation videos created in wide and vertical formats for social media, helping to announce and promote the release of The Activity Book. These animations effectively translated the project's spirit into motion, bringing the illustrated pages to life and expanding the initiative’s visibility across digital platforms.

Social media motion graphics designed for engagement on Instagram and other platforms.
Wide-screen promotional video to highlight the book’s mission and featured artists.
Vertical-format videos optimized for stories and reels, helping reach broader audiences.

Results
Through donations, The Activity Book has already reached children in schools and hospitals, with more distributions underway. By combining traditional print with digital storytelling and animation, the project inspires children to imagine, create, and find joy—even in difficult circumstances.

Creative Approach
The painting features 12 distinct characters, symbolizing both the 12 hands of a clock and the 12+ hours per day the artist dedicates to his craft. My role was to amplify this concept through motion graphics, bringing the figures into movement while respecting the original painterly aesthetic.
- Clock-inspired rhythm guided the animation flow, emphasizing the cyclical theme.
- Character-driven motion to animate each of the 12 figures, creating interplay between them.
- Layered visual storytelling that mirrored Crawford’s reflections on time, dedication, and creativity.
- Immersive gallery display, designed to loop seamlessly across three synchronized screens.
